History of the house
The house has history of its own; it is
not just special for the strange happenings that occurred inside, but also for
the structure. The Franklin Castle is located on 4308 Franklin Boulevard in
Cleveland, Ohio. The Franklin Castle was built in 1865 by a well-known Cleveland
architecture firm, Cudell and Richardson, the house was built with the architectural
style, Queen Anne Style architecture (United States). The very first owners of
the Franklin Castle were the Tiedemann’s. The Tiedemann’s added to the house a
ballroom, some secret rooms and hidden passageways to the house in 1886 to
1888. In 1999 the Franklin castle was almost destroyed after it was set on fire
by a homeless vandal (Dubelko). The house went through various renovations
after the unfortunate event occurred. After the Tiedemann Family sold the house
in 1896 the house was passed down through many owners, some of those owners
only lived in the house for a few years. The house currently is dilapidated, even though there have
been a lot of money invested in the house over the years.
